A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy fatally shot 40-year-old Gabriel Munoz Jr. in Whitewater, California, after he charged at the deputy with a tire iron, ignoring commands to drop it. Body camera footage shows the deputy warning Munoz and ultimately firing six shots. The incident began with a vandalism call, where Munoz was reported throwing rocks and smashing a vehicle’s windshield. The deputy, responding to a parked car being damaged, ordered Munoz to drop the tire iron. The shooting is under investigation, and the deputy’s statement about having “nothing else other than my gun” remains unclarified.
